Becky and Julien

Filed in Wedding — June 16, 2019

Yesterday’s wedding at the Orpheum was magical. Becky and Julien’s ceremony included readings in both English and French. A selection from “Le Petit Prince” was the perfect reading for this French teacher and native Frenchman. Additionally, we also included their beautiful love story during the Charge to the Couple and a Celtic handfasting as a nod to Becky’s heritage during their unique and personal vows. One of my favorite moments was during the song, “All of Me” by John Legend when Becky began singing the lyrics to the song softly to Julien. The look of love in their eyes made this such a memorable and a favorite for me this wedding season. I really enjoyed marrying this delightful and sweet couple. Congratulations Becky and Julien!

What does Koru mean?

KORU (kor-roo) is the Maori word for “loop.” For the indigenous people of New Zealand, the koru spiral represents a fern frond beginning to unfurl. The koru symbol embodies new beginnings, a new phase of life, renewal, hope for the future, positive change, personal growth, working in harmony, bringing people together, and being mindful of the good things in life.

At Koru Ceremony, we strive to personify these ideals and celebrate a new beginning through ceremony and ritual.
